General rules for admission:-


Alexandria University is subject to the admission system for Egyptian public universities, and international students are accepted from all countries after the approval of the General Administration of Expatriates and the competent authorities in the country of dispatch. A full-time study is required.

 

Study duration:-


The student is granted a bachelor's degree in oral and dental medicine and surgery by credit hour system after successfully passing 193 credit hours divided into five levels of study.
The study is divided into two phases:
- Preclinical stage (levels one and two)
- Clinical stage (third, fourth and fifth levels)
Completion of the program requires the graduate to train for one year of mandatory internship to obtain a permit to practice the profession from the competent authorities according to the rules or tests they see fit to obtain the permit and to renew it periodically.

 

School system :-


The minimum number of credit hours that a student is allowed to register in the fall and spring semesters is 12 credit hours, except for graduation cases based on the proposal of the Education and Student Affairs Committee and the approval of the College Council.

The maximum number of credit hours that a student is allowed to register in the fall and spring semesters is (21) credit hours, and it may be increased to (23) credit hours, for students who achieve a cumulative average of no less than 3.333, or for graduation cases of non-failed students.

A defaulting student is not allowed to register for more than 12 credit hours in the fall and spring semesters.
For the summer semester, the maximum number of hours a student is allowed to register is 9 credit hours.

 

Definition of credit hour:


The credit hour is a unit of measurement to determine the weight of each course in one semester, and it is equivalent to:
One hour of theoretical study per week.
Or two hours of practice or two hours of lab or clinical training per week.
Or four hours of field training per week throughout the semester.
