Within the activities of the dual bachelor’s program between the University of Alexandria and the University of Manchester, the students of the first year of the program visited the University of Manchester starting June 17 and for two weeks. During this period, they learned about the latest developments in the specialties of oral and maxillofacial surgery, orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, implantology, and restorative treatment at Manchester Dental Hospital, as well as the biomaterials laboratory where they attended a lecture about composites by a visiting professor, Prof Richard Price. They were also introduced to the National Health Services in the UK. During the visit, they were supervised by Dr. Neil, the Executive Director of the programme, and were received by the Dean of the College, Professor Silikas. The dual bachelor’s program is the first program of its kind in the Middle East in the field of dentistry. The program is keen on introducing students to clinical specialties at an early stage to develop skills and professional sense.
